Our programs
Kids Karate
Our children's classes (lil warriors) age 4 -7 . Classes are structured to teach respect, discipline, karate basics, all in a fun , comfortable learning environment.
Ages 8-11 - Students in this age group begin their journey in this wonderful art. They will learn not only ancient kata ( forms) but age appropriate self defense techniques.
Teen classes will include the traditional Okinawan kata as well as self defense applications hidden in kata ( bunkai). Situational awareness, de-escalation techniques are key aspects of self defense. Karate was originally a self preservation art and our dojo treats it as such.
Adult Karate
Our Adult classes offer students the ability to learn not only traditional kata (forms) that have been passed down through generations but also traditional Okinawan weapons (Kobudo). In addition our program emphasizes kata bunkai ( self defense applications within the kata). We teach practical self defense.

Advanced Training
Our school has many students who are Black belts from other styles and have joined our family to continue their training in authentic Okinawan karate.
We embrace the collective experience of our advanced students and encourage a collaborative approach within our training. We all benefit and become better martial artists.

Traditional Forms
The foundation of Okinawan Shorin Ryu karate is based on kata. These ancient forms have been passed down from master to student for generations. The New England Shuhari dojo is honored to study and preserve these kata .
